Man Charged, Jealousy Was Motive In Double-Murder

MIRAMAR (CBS4) - The Dania Beach man charged with two counts of murder told officers he stabbed his ex-girlfriend and another man to death after he entered her apartment and found the pair having sex, a police report says.

Edwin "Eddie" Maldonado, 52, was arrested in the Pompano Beach area and charged with two counts of murder, according to Miramar Police.

He's accused of killing his ex-girlfriend Joann Beaudoin, 44, and another man, Bryan Bennett, 51. Both victims were found stabbed to death inside an apartment at 2001 SW 64th Avenue on Thursday morning.

Jealousy appears to have been the motive for the killings.

MIRAMAR (CBS4) - Maldonado was immediately named a person of interest in the case when friends said Beaudoin got into an argument with Maldonado at a bar on Wednesday night; the night before the two bodies were found by a friend who went to the apartment to check on her.

Apparently Beaudoin had concerns about her ex-boyfriend. On November 30th, she went to court in Broward for a domestic violence hearing in reference to a restraining order against Maldonado.
