Floridians Increasingly Delinquent On Credit Cards
MIAMI (CBS4) - While Floridians are in the bottom half of the nation when it comes to the amount of credit card debt they hold; the credit card delinquency rate for the Sunshine State is second in the nation, according to the South Florida Business Journal.
TransUnion's analysis found that almost 1.1 percent of Floridians have at least one credit card they are at least 90 days delinquent on. The average amount Floridians own on credit cards is just over $5,000.
Nationally, the average credit card debt hovered around $4965, but that was down from over $5,600 in the third quarter of 2009, the Business Journal reported.
TransUnion found that one reason American delinquency rates are dropping is that over 8 million Americans stopped using bank-issued, general purpose credit cards since the third quarter of 2009.
