Top Summer Day Camps In South Florida

Summer is here again and children will soon be getting restless from hanging out at home. So where can parents send the kids during the summer for some fun activities? Day camps may be the answer. Although there are a lot of day camps located in South Florida, we have only listed five of them here. Check them out and see which one appeals to your child's interests.

Alper JCC offers two camp sessions: June 20 - July 15, 2016 and July 18 - August 12, 2016. Day camp hours are from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. There will be swimming, skill building, computer activities, specialty camps like performance arts and sports, and many others. There are even programs designed for students with special needs. One of the nice things about Alper JCC is that, for an additional fee, parents can make use of the adult fitness activities or simply enjoy a relaxing day at the jacuzzi or pool while their children attend the day camp.

AEF's summer program includes a day camp for children ages 5-12 years old. The day's activities include innovative life management programs, individualized assistance and group sessions. The focus of this day camp is to teach campers to take on responsibilities, follow instructions, gain self-worth, control impulsivity and build other important social skills. But most of all, AEF teaches kids to have fun while learning. Dates of the camps and costs vary depending on the length of the particular camp chosen.

Activities happening at Pine Crest Day Camp this summer include bingo, beading, cheerleading, basketball, waterslides, kayaking, batting cages and much more. The activities vary each year so campers can come back each summer to experience new lessons and adventures. All campers have the right to "opt out" of any activity that they feel uncomfortable about. There are two camp sessions which last either three weeks or four weeks, depending on which camp session is chosen. Although the rates are a bit high, the learning opportunities for campers are priceless.

Zoo Miami Summer Camp

Zoo Miami's unique summer day camp is from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. each camping day. Children ages 4 -12 are welcome to attend the camp. Zoo Miami combines education with entertainment. Attendees will learn about the various animals in residence at the zoo, receive instruction on environmental conservation, interact with zookeepers and more. Campers must bring their own lunches and drinks each day. However, morning and afternoon snacks and drinks will be provided by the zoo.

Fun Camps programs include a Magicamp, Amazing Science & Space Camp, a JurassiCamp, a Gametech Institute and more. Each camp features unique activities developed around the camp's theme. There are field trips, carnivals, swimming, outdoor fun, and guest entertainers & speakers. Day camp hours are 9 a.m. - 3:25 p.m. Camps are available at the University of Miami, Pinecrest Gardens or Pine Tree Camp in Boca Raton. Campers can choose from two-week to eight-week classes.
