Sometimes you’re just looking for a honky-tonk good time. Although South Florida is geographically in the South, it doesn’t necessarily boast an extensive lineup of southern/country bars. If you’re looking to don those beloved cowboy boots and cowboy hat, you can do so and fit right in at any one of these southern-style bars in the area.

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar

1600 Lenox Ave.
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 538-5220

Sense of tradition and family are the ideals the founders of this establishment stand by. Yardbird Southern Table & Bar is all about comfort and laughter and that’s one of the reasons why portions are abundant enough to be shared. Produce is purchased from the neighboring farmers to ensure the closest to comfort food. As for the drinks, you will never find a better presentation than this locale’s house cocktail offerings. With most cocktails served in mason jars with a ripe and vibrant garnish, southern never looked or tasted so good.

A mechanical bull, some 75 flat-screen TV and live country music have been some of the attractions to one of the few true country bars in South Florida. Tuesdays and Fridays are ladies nights and daily happy hour goes from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The “Great Food – Great Music – Great Fun” is a true promise, considering the names of celebrities that have been seen popping in.

When you find a ‘squealing pig skin’ on the menu, you can be sure you are sitting in a restaurant that cooks southern cuisine. Located in Homestead for over 50 years, Shiver’s is that place you can’t miss from the road. When you get in, you feel like you are entering a saloon in a western movie. The only difference is you are parking the car and not leaving the horse outside. Be ready to be asked to stand up and sing “She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain” to win a round of appetizers for your party on the house.

Mr. Moe’s Restaurant & Bar

Live music, a gigantic bear greeting you at the door, the best beer selection in town and the mechanical bull are features that make Mr. Moe’s a staple in Coconut Grove. Not only is every item on the menu home cooked and made from scratch, but every element of the decor has been cautiously selected and brought in from throughout North America. A game room, pool table and fireplace are the background to what was born to be ‘Home of the original Moose Juice,’ a pink drink that tastes like candy but will hit you before you know it.
