School is out and the last thing that parents want is for their children to forget everything they learned in school this year. That’s why South Florida offers many options for children interested in reading. South Florida libraries have plenty of programs designed to fit any skill level and any age range. Alternatively, you can head to your local bookstore and meet your favorite author. The options are only limited by your imagination and your busy schedule.

Miami Dade Public Library Systems offers a Summer Reading Program for children. This year’s theme is “Dig Into Reading!” Most of the Miami-Dade branches carry this nationwide program and they have either their registration or kickoff on June 7th or 8th. The California Club branch, in particular, has a celebration to commemorate the start of the program featuring stories and crafts. Some the books featured involve interactive corresponding activities like doing arts and crafts featured in one of the assigned book or kids can watch video interviews of the author discussing their book.
