Setting time aside to jet out on a date can be a struggle for some couples and when you finally have the time there’s the age-old question: What should we do? Sure, there’s no shortage of pricey cocktails or high-end restaurants, but if you’re looking to do something more romantic with down-to-earth prices, here’s a list that includes everything from star gazing to ice skating.

What could be more romantic than star gazing? How many poems compare a loved ones eyes to stars? Too many to quote here. But for a long gaze of the starry night reserve the first Friday of every month and head over to the museum. That’s when officials open the rooftop observatory and a guide explains the celestial show from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.  The museum also offers a laser light show on the first Friday of every month and and prices range from $8 for adults and $4 children.

Bring your binoculars and observe the wildlife at the award-winning state park that also offers 15 miles of mountain-bike trails for all levels. But if you’re looking for a more intimate setting, the park also offers rustic log cabins for campers and according to the website, the cabins offer no televisions or phones for the “guest’s relaxation.”

Oh, those romantic scenes of couples on ice skates in the winter time. It’s so picturesque, but may be hard to come by in sunny, muggy South Florida. While there are no outdoor ice skating, a la Rockefeller Center, there is a place where you can play out those romantic scenes. Skate across the ice where the Florida Panthers hockey team practices — the rink is open to the public on Wednesday and Friday nights.
