The boots are out, the sweaters are on—South Florida is experiencing some of the chilliest weather of the season.
Enjoy the warmth while it lasts because after Tuesday, a series of cold fronts will move through the area to bring South Florida a longer stretch of “winter” weather all the way through the weekend.
It’s hard to overstate how great a weather disparity there between South Florida and the rest of the country during winter. But Thursday morning it was again on display as one part of the country was frozen and S. Florida was ready to bake.
It’s been a very mild winter so far, but the coldest air of the season is set to arrive this weekend.
While it has been a very warm winter so far across South Florida, that all changed Monday night courtesy of a potent cold front that swept across the area.
Enjoy the near 80 degree temperatures Monday because they may be gone until Sunday. Monday night, bone-chilling weather by South Florida standards, will descend on the area and last through midweek.
A strong cold front moved down the state and rapidly dropped temperatures and wind chills down into the 40’s or lower in Broward and Miami-Dade County Saturday night and Sunday morning.
After a beautiful Christmas day, get ready for a cold, wet change. A cold front will be pushing down the state Sunday with some very cold air behind it.
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Watch for all of South Florida and a Freeze Watch for mainland areas of South Florida through Monday morning.
All of South Florida remains under Freeze and Wind Chill Warnings until Tuesday morning.
