Smoke and ash from a brush fire in the eastern Everglades has spread as far south as Kendall. Forestry officials said lightning sparked the fire Saturday night north of I-75 and west of U.S. 27 but it wasn’t until Sunday that the smell of smoke caught people’s attention.
