Brush Fire Smoke Blankets South Florida

Smoke and ash from a brush fire in the eastern Everglades has spread as far south as Kendall. Forestry officials said lightning sparked the fire Saturday night north of I-75 and west of U.S. 27 but it wasn’t until Sunday that the smell of smoke caught people’s attention.

A deadly crash on U.S. 27 Thursday has claimed a third victim. Anthony Perez, 19, of Miramar died Friday at Broward Medical Center from his injuries.
