Nate Freiman hit a three-run homer in his 2014 debut and the Oakland Athletics beat the Miami Marlins 4-3 Sunday to complete a three-game series sweep.
The Oakland Athletics were the fastest team in the AL to 50 wins and are a season-best 20 games over .500, though they made it difficult on themselves in the last two contests. After overcoming blown leads to win both, the MLB-leading A’s go for a three-game sweep of the host Miami Marlins on Sunday.
If the A’s are going to make the playoffs again, it will be on the strength of their pitching. A.J. Griffin will be a big part of that.
