SMU opened the American Athletic Conference with a bang on Wednesday, walloping SouthFlorida 83-49 with Ben Moore scoring 15 points and Keith Frazier 14.
Justin Holman threw two touchdown passes and Dontravious Wilson scored twice, all in the first quarter, as the University of Central Florida routed winless SMU 53-7.
The Miami Dolphins have signed free agent kicker/punter Matt Szymanski to a one-year contract. Szymanski joins Miami after spending time with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The conference announced the decision Wednesday after university presidents approved the new moniker earlier in the day.
