Seven Mile Bridge
A South Florida college student took home the prize for the men’s race on the Florida Keys’ Seven Mile Bridge run on Saturday.
Monroe County commissioners approved an agreement Wednesday between the Florida Department of Transportation, Monroe County and the City of Marathon to provide funding to restore and maintain a 2.2-mile section of the historic Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys.
The historic Seven Mile bridge will soon be wheelchair accessible. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has authorized a $1.16 million plan to improve access to the Old Seven Mile Bridge in Marathon Key with a ramp that will run along an existing stairwell beneath the new bridge.
The Seven Mile Bridge was closed in both directions Wednesday night after a two cars collided, killing one person and injuring another.
