Corps To Continue Lake Okeechobee Water Releases Heavy rains have soaked South Florida at an above-average rate for the past couple months and Lake Okeechobee, a usually shallow lake, has swelled to almost 16-feet.
More Soaking Rain Expected Tuesday It was a very wet and messy Monday across South Florida. Ft. Lauderdale picked up 4.86 inches of rain, breaking the old record of 2.04 inches set back in 1981; Miami received 3.96 inches of rain; and West Palm Beach picked up 6.73 inches of rain.
Soggy Weather Will Continue Through WeekendParts of South Florida logged record rainfall on Tuesday. At Miami International Airport, a rain gauge recorded 2.33 inches which broke the old record of 1.49 inches.
