Florida lawmakers along with other House members are pushing the Obama administration to add five types of giant snakes to an existing federal python ban.

Group Wants Ban On Importing Giant Snakes Tossed

A nationwide ban on importing four types of giant snakes, or taking them across state lines, may be challenged in federal court.


Although pythons have been found in or near some residential areas west of Miami, there have been no reports of injuries to people. (CBS4)

Interior Secretary Announces Python Ban

U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced Tuesday during a trip to the Everglades a new ban that will make it illegal to import Burmese pythons and three other non-native constrictor snakes.
