Miami-Dade Transit Awarded $10 Million Grant

It’s a good day for Miami-Dade transit. On Wednesday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood presented county leaders with a $10 million grant.

3 Hurt When SUV Hits Woman, Then Hit By Bus

Three people were hurt Friday morning in a chain reaction accident, when an SUV apparently hit a pedestrian on West Dixie Highway, only to he struck in turn by a Miami-Dade bus. The pedestrian and 2 people in the SUV were hospitalized.

County Looking To Hire 120 Part-Time Bus Drivers

Miami-Dade Transit is looking to fill over120 part-time bus driver positions. The move comes after some veteran full-time bus drivers are being trained to become Metrorail operators for the forthcoming elevated train line to Miami International Airport.

Maintenance work brought Miami’s free Metromover train to a standstill on Sunday. The train system is undergoing routine maintenance on the tracks, Miami-Dade Transit is providing shuttle bus service instead.

An “education committee” of Miami Dade Transit workers that spent all their time campaigning on behalf of Mayor Carlos Alvarez in the recent recall election cost taxpayers more than $128,000, according to a report prepared by the county Inspector General’s Office.
