Ruggiano’s HR In 9th Sends Marlins Over Reds 2-1

Justin Ruggiano hit a solo homer off Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning last night, sending the Miami Marlins to a 2-1 victory that snapped the Cincinnati Reds’ winning streak at four games. It was a stunning moment for the Marlins, who have the worst record in the majors at 4-13.

Strasburg Struggles, Marlins Edge Nats 9-7

Marlins KO Astros In 9th

Houston Astros player J.D. Martinez became the first player to homer at the Marlins’ new ballpark, tying the game in the eighth inning, but Gaby Sanchez hit an RBI double in the 11th inning to beat the Houston Astros 5-4 Friday night.

Marlins Beat Rays 5-3

The Florida Marlins had already rallied to take the lead when Logan Morrison saw a chance to squeeze out another run. He scored on a sacrifice pop fly to the first baseman. The alert play capped a big night for Morrison, and the Marlins did a lot of little things right to beat AL East-leader Tampa Bay 5-3 on Friday.
