Diana Nyad hoists a bronze plaque Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, in Key West, Fla., commemorating her 2013 Cuba-to-Florida Keys swim. The plaque is to be installed on a promenade wall at Smathers Beach and is to be augmented by a bronze sculpture of Nyad that is to be commissioned by the Key West Art in Public Places Board.
