Competitors Jump Into “Limelight” For Pie Eating Contest

Locals and visitors jumped into the “limelight” in Key West for a Key Lime Pie Eatin’ contest during the July 4th weekend.

The gargantuan pastry, measuring 9 feet, 2 inches in diameter, was the centerpiece of the Key Lime Festival that concludes Saturday, July 5. The pie's ingredients included juice from 6,480 Key limes, 60 gallons of sweetened condensed milk and 220 pounds of graham crackers. The gigantic version of the Florida Keys' signature dessert is being submitted to the World Record Academy as the world's largest Key lime pie.
