Pets’ Trust Miami proposed a new bill in efforts to reduce the large number of stray cats and dogs in Miami-Dade County and decrease unwanted animals being put down each year.
Measures intended to reduce the number of unwanted animals put down each year, including a bill that allows voters to support using property taxes for neutering costs, were advanced without opposition in the Senate Agriculture Committee on Monday.
A bill filed this week would force animal shelters to publicize animal kills on their websites.
With the new Senate maps expected to easily pass the House next week, before the March 30th end of the special session, lawmakers in the upper chamber and potential candidates for those seats are beginning to evaluate their electoral futures. A number of South Florida Senators could be affected.
