Marlins Trade Escobar, Drop Payroll To $31 Million

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: a possible starter with the Miami Marlins has been traded for a minor leaguer. It’s déjà vu for Marlins fans as the team dealt shortstop Yunel Escobar to the Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday night.

The Miami Marlins are making some noise at baseball’s winter meetings this week, but it’s not by signing any big name free agent. Instead, the Marlins are trying to get rid of Yunel Escobar and trying to figure out what to do with Ricky Nolasco, who wants out of the troubled franchise.

Blue Jays Player Suspended Over Homophobic Slur

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar has been suspended for three games without pay after photos of him from Saturday’s game against the Boston Red Sox showed he was wearing eye-black stickers with a homophobic slur written in Spanish on them.
