Ray Rice Video Sheds Light On Domestic Violence

The video has been all over social media, and it’s difficult to watch. It shows ex-Ravens running back Ray Rice slug his then-fiancee Janay not once, but twice in an elevator at an Atlantic City Casino. She was knocked out cold, then dragged out and left sprawled on the ground, laying there, not moving.

Longer Rice Video Shows Obscenities, Spitting

Ray Rice and Janay Palmer can be heard shouting obscenities at each other, and she appears to spit in the face of the three-time Pro Bowl running back right before he throws a brutal punch in a video shown to The Associated Press by a law enforcement official.

Ravens Terminate Contract Of RB Ray Rice

The Baltimore Ravens have terminated the contract of running back Ray Rice. He was also suspended indefinitely by the NFL after a video was released showing the running back striking his then-fiancee in February.

NFL Increases Domestic Violence Ban To 6 Weeks

Acknowledging he “didn’t get it right” with a two-game suspension for Ravens running back Ray Rice, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced tougher penalties for players accused of domestic violence, including six weeks for a first offense and at least a year for a second.
