Eugene RamirezEugene Ramirez is the co-anchor of CBS4 News This Morning airing Monday-Friday, from 5 to 7 AM.  He joined CBS Miami in January, 2017.

A native of Miami, Ramirez was morning co-anchor at WFLA-TV in Tampa-St. Petersburg before returning home to South Florida. Prior to that, he was a reporter for WSVN-TV and a features reporter/host for WSFL-TV’s The Morning Show, both in Miami-Fort Lauderdale. He was also one of the original anchor/reporters for Orlando’s News 13 en Español.

Additionally, Ramirez has served as a guest contributor for HLN’s Showbiz Tonight, CNN en Español’s Showbiz, and CNN Newsroom. He began his career as an anchor/reporter for Azteca America in Fort Myers. His work has been recognized with awards from the Florida AP Broadcasters.

Ramirez has covered historic changes to US/Cuba policy. He reported from Havana on the opening of the US Embassy and the visit by Pope Francis, and from Washington, D.C. on the opening of the Cuban Embassy. As a Miami reporter, he covered local government and numerous court cases including the murder trial in the death of Washington Redskin Sean Taylor. In Tampa, his reporting led to the expansion of driver license road test facilities.

He graduated from Miami’s Belen Jesuit Preparatory School and earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.  During his college years in Alabama, Ramirez became a fan of country music and cheese grits – he still loves both as well as pizza and chocolate.

He enjoys spending time with family and friends exploring the arts and dining scene and supports a number of local organizations including the American Cancer Society, Amigos for Kids and other important charities.
