2014 Guide To The Miami Dade County Fair & Exposition

It's that time of year when Ferris wheels, roller coasters and elephant ears take on Miami. The Miami Dade County Fair is back in town and kicks-off its 63rd annual Fair on Thursday, March 13. Ranked the largest fair in the state, the 18-day festival featuring rides, live performances, fair food, and livestock and agricultural competitions attracts more than half a million visitors every year and exhibits the academic and artistic work of more than 45,000 local students.

Amenities

Over 200 acres of free public parking, over 160,000 sq. ft of air conditioned exhibit/shopping pavilions, paved walkways, convenient sitting areas, diaper changing facilities/restrooms, Lost & Found, stroller and wheelchair rental, and bilingual guest relations service.

Admission and Hours

ADMISSION AND HOURS OF OPERATION:
General admission is $12 for adults and children, free for children five years of age and younger, as well as 65 and older.

It opens at 3:00 p.m. on Opening Day March 13th. It opens at Noon on Saturdays, Sundays, and at 12 noon daily during Spring Break, which takes place March 21st - 30th.  It opens at 3:00 p.m. on all other weekdays and closes at midnight every day.

  • Opening Day Special: Admission is $5.00 per person. No coupon required.
  • School Spirit Uniform Day: Students wearing their school uniform get in free. No coupon required.
  • 6 Before 6 Deals: $6 admission before 6 p.m. Monday - Fridays only. This coupon is required.
  • Military Appreciation: Active and retired military members receive discounted admission Mondays - Thursdays with presentation of their military I.D. and the special Military Appreciation coupon.
  • Scouts Day:  Wednesday March 26th. Free admission for Girl and Boy Scouts dressed in uniform. No coupon required.
  • Miami-Dade County Employees:  Miami-Dade County Employees receive discount admission Mondays - Thursdays with this coupon.
  • Teachers: Public, Charter and Private school teachers receive discount admission Mondays - Thursdays with this coupon.
  • PTA Members: Miami-Dade PTA members receive discount admission Mondays - Thursdays with this coupon.
  • Library Cardholders: Miami-Dade County Public Library cardholders receive discount admission Mondays - Thursdays with this coupon.
  • Miami Dolphins Day: Wear your Miami Dolphins shirt on Sunday March 16th and save $4.00 on one admission. No coupon required.
  • Food Drive: Save $4 on 1 admission ticket when you bring 2 cans of food to the designated tent area. A ticket will be provided in the designated tent area which needs to be presented at any Main Gate Ticket Booth to receive your discount.

For the first time ever, the Pay-One-Price unlimited ride wrist band are good on the weekends. but they're NOT good on School Field Trips. $25.00 same day purchase. $20 if purchased in advance.

Midway Express Access
The "Express Access" gives fair goers VIP admission to rides. Each ride will have a separate line allowing pass holders to skip the regular lines.  $15.00

There are nearly 100 thrilling rides on the midway this year including the new ride, 'Backdraft,' a fire-themed coaster with seven cars which light up and hold up to four passengers each. There's also the new 7D Cinema where fairgoers sit inside the enhanced 7D simulator to experience spectacular footage and thrilling special effects. Guests are transported on roller coasters to prehistoric eras traveling through enchanted tunnels and other sites.

Events

Time-honored favorites like the Royal Hanneford Circus and the petting zoo return, accompanied by new attractions Cowtown, where children can learn how to make ice cream, cheese, and butter.

Visitors can enjoy concerts on Fridays and Saturdays, including a performance by salsa superstars Willy Chirino and Albito on March 22nd.
