  1. News companies aren’t going to tell you bc they want it for free/cheap, so you won’t really know unless you let the free market decide what your newsworthy video or photo is worth. There’s a cool site called Bideo.com that lets people upload and protect hot exclusives, then competing news outlets view the image and place a bid on it if they want. Pretty genius if you ask me!

  2. If someone is hired as a ‘freelancer’, the payment varies from organization to organization, story to story. It can be as little as $20 for a brief story to hundreds of dollars if a cameraman and his gear are hired for a days freelance work.
