There are terrible things going on at JCP: Racism, age discrimination, sexual act between Manger and associates. Especially at Dadeland store 1360 in Miami. We’ve contacted corporate and nothing has been done. They totally disregard what’s going on in store 1360. Speaking with other in the Miami District it’s not just our store. Non-Latino mangers are being forced to hire Hispanics who don’t speak English. We’ve been communicating with other districts and its company wide. They are currently firing and have already fired our older employees, which we believe is age discrimination. Anyone with years of service Ron Johnson is laying them off (firing). He’s allowing store mangers to layoff (fire) whomever they’ve had a grudge against. Our District manger Prince Mims lets all this go on in his district!!! Wendell our store manger lets this injustice go on in his store. Since corporate will not hear our cries were praying the Media outlets will. Mangers and Supervisors are having sex with associates and those associates are receiving the hours. Ron Johnson has completely run this company into the ground! His spending is being covered up by laying off (firing) employees to cover up his mistake for not increasing store sales. We don’t have a voice and we need one please run this story of Racism, Age discrimination, and sexual favor for hours in our company!!!! We’ve have enclosed emails that we sent to corporate. There is too much racism and favoritism at Dadeland store 1360-7. Rafael by for is the worst offender. His favoritism towards Spanish associates and discrimination towards the African American team members has made our work environment wearisome to say the least. Rafael doesn’t try to hide his discontent for non-Spanish associates. First problem is he refers to the night team as his team. Isnt something wrong with that? Arent we all one team? Communicating with him is useless unless your Spanish. Even the Spanish employees who converse with non-Spanish associates are penalized. Were tired of getting our hours cut do to not being Spanish or for associating with blacks! Why is it that in Dadeland the full-time employees on MEM are all Spanish? Rafael appointed a Spanish person for RFID. When the previous person tried to train a African American and was told no by Rafael. Any projects in the store can only be done by Spanish. Manger in the store only get Spanish worker when they ask for assitance on a project. Unless its something heavy and then the African Americans have to move it. What are they slaves? Why are they only good for moving heavy objects? Non Spanish employees and the persons who converse with them are treated as second class citizens! Spanish associates are giving projects in which there literally given all day to complete by Rafael. If your cutting hour then how can you give a hand full of associates a tremendous amount of overtime? Your taking hours from us to give to a them. Why does the night team get more hours than the day team? The night team associoates are schedule full time hours. Ive even heard the morning associates saying why is the night team just leaving when they arrive in the morning. How does this go unnoticed in this store? Is this the new JCP? This feels like Josue all over again times two. Why is it frowned upon-ed for African American to work together and not the Spanish? Why is it when the Spanish associates work together theirs no problem? Rafael uses Spanish to inform on certain associates. Do we not have a supervisor? If these other associates are watching us then how are the working? Attitude starts from the top, they set the example for us. The example being set is Non Spanish and the Spanish who converses with them are worthless compared to the others. When it came to Appraisals the last couple of years why did these Spanish associates Delia Garica, Warner Martinez, Wendy Castellon, Adolfo Gutierrez, Maria Castillo get (A) Well Above Expectation. So not a single African American did Well Above Expectation? We sat down while going over our review and were told that (A) aren’t given out by the company. That no associates will receive an (A) on there Appraisals. Its just not company standards. Our Appraisals this year consisted of a sit down and being informed by Rafael that we cant be rated and we will receive the same Appraisals as last year. What if I improved, I’m being held to the same Appraisal as last year. Know one can tell us this is company standards. Why isn’t the night team being held to the same standard as we are? How is it that Silvia is allowed to do her job but Patrick is not? We “always” have to finish what they don’t complete but were the team that’s being watched by Mangers, Supervisors and associates. Theirs not a Manger or Supervisor that’s doesn’t know whats going on in store 1360. How come Mims hasn’t figured out that Rafael doesn’t know his job? Why did we as associates have to show him what to do? How is every position that has became vacant was filled by a Latino? Silvia, Ingrid, Sofia, supervisors on the MEM team, Angela, Edgar visual, All on Rafael team. He told these certain associates and he knows who that big changes are coming. Patrick out as supervisor, Silvia in as the new supervisor. If this is true then what they said is not a lie. If what these assiocates said Rafael told them are to be true the African Americans on that team and the other Spanish workers who associate with them are in trouble. Why is he conversing to associates about moves in the company that should be private? And he knows who he told to wait changes are coming. Why does he greet the African American on the morning team with “what are you doing” and not “good morning”? I don’t know how that hasn’t angered them yet? I would like to know how you can come to Patrick Metzs and tell him not to let certain African American and certain Latinos work together? But the Spanish who Rafael favors can work together. I don’t know how Patrick can follows those orders? The reason nothing gets said because nothing will be done about it. Wendall open door policy is a joke. You can walk in and discuss whats on your mind but nothing will ever get done about your problem! As associates were caught in a catch 22, if we reported it you will get retaliated against or we as associates do nothing and receive the same inadequate treatment.Why is the night team considered better than the morning team according to Rafael. Why is Silvia considered to better than Patrick when we have to bring people off the morning team to help the night team finish there jobs. Rafael constantly makes excuses and will cover up for Silvia and the night team when they don’t finish there jobs. How is it that the MEM night doesn’t finish there work but Silvia get mentioned in the jcp news letter. Everyone including her associates were wonder how did she get that? When your own associates can question you for being acknowledge for work you don’t complete then there’s a serious problem going on. We finish Silvia’s work and she gets acknowledge for doing a good job! Is this how the new JCP is going to operate? Is this the family environment that Ron Johnson speaks about creating? Ron is this what you call team work? How do the Mangers and Supervisor in this store turn a blind eye to this? How doesn’t Wendall know whats going on in his store? This is Josue but worse because everyone knows and know one will help us!!!!! The previous email was meant to raise the awareness of unethical treatment of associates at dadeland store 1360. Instead the previous email has spread to certain associates. All we ever wanted was the same treatment. But since is beginning to look like a witch hunt instead of correcting the problem. All we wanted to gain thru the previous email is for personnel from Corporate to come and talk with everyone not just us. So we will be forwarding in the next week or so everything we have on discrimination that’s been happening in store 1360 to outside resources. You’re not going to cover this up. Were not going to lose our jobs just for speaking out on discrimination in the work place. Were being discriminated on because of our sexual preference, race and gender. This was meant to stay private between management and corporate not to get around the store it’s hard enough as it is. Just because you give hours to Ryan and Clarence doesn’t mean you’re not discriminating. Why these only African Americans are associates to get hours when they become available? No one is fooled by this. Ask the two of them what kind of work they do to get those hours. These two African American associates receive more hour than supervisor Patrick. Why?
These are the some facts but not all fact relating to this matter:
Since Rafael becoming the MEM manger only the Spanish on the team are given hours. Before he was the SEM, floor associates disliked his attitude and only certain Spanish employees could talk to him without him becoming rude and belligerent. His attitude has been terrible since then. Spanish on our team feel empowered while the Blacks and the Spanish who associate them with them don’t. They have a voice we don’t. He picks who he wants to work thru favoritism not thru work ethic. Fact the Spanish on our team works more than the average African American associate. Patrick has always explained to the team that in morning meeting who works and who doesn’t work isn’t up to him. That he has no control over the scheduling of associates. Therefore if we have any concern about our schedule to see Rafael. Majority of us don’t and are afraid to talk with him and just don’t bother. Fact if we have a voice in the store its Patrick but its limited because we feel like he can’t do anything. If some of us could find another job we would but sadly Wendell has been informed that when an employer has called someone or ones on his staff has given less then favorable reference about certain individuals. Most of us like our jobs and would like to continue working for JCP. Fact every manger and supervisor knows what’s going on in store 1360. Fact not one African American employee with the exception of Patrick is full time permanently on the MEM team. Fact Silvia, Sophia, Ingrid, Edgar, Angela, all promote to various spots on the MEM team. Fact not a single African American was asked or interview for anyone of those positions. Fact the morning team has worked considerably less hour since the night team has returned to mornings. Fact the night team now morning team has more Spanish associates then black and they work far more hour than the truck team. Fact they look at all receive schedule including 3712, 3713 and see who gets the most hours. Fact look at actual hour accumulated during the week and the Spanish always has the most. Fact Rafael knows this. Fact Wendell knows this. Fact the new Spanish associates on the MEM team receives more hours than the African American and Spanish associates who have worked their longer. Fact Rafael is slowly phasing out the African American associates and Spanish associates who associate with them. Fact Silvia has already began favoritism between associate by telling certain truck associates they could work and not calling any of the others in. Fact Silvia has already began her singling out of associates by her actions. Fact Rafael has the blacks do all the heavy lifting. Fact a certain African American asked to come to the morning team Rafael said there was no room and then hired a Spanish woman who he knew from formally working at Kohl’s. Fact we can go on and on about discrimination in this store. So if you receive this email please like the first if you hadn’t forward to corporate please!!!!
