Where in Hawaii?? I might be interested. We currently have a timeshare too.
We had one, did not pay the fees for 10 years, they keep sending a bill. Then one day they offered to buy us out. We signed the paper and handed the property it to them. We did not get anything from the sale.
Take your time and do some research before you make any decisions.. There are literally hundreds of timeshare resale scams just waiting to steal your money! Remember that the sale and closing process will be very similar to a home sale, so follow that same basic process. Start by getting a free comparative market analysis to determine what, if anything, the timeshare is expected to sell for on the secondary market. Visit http://vacation-times.org for a free valuation. Then, contact a respected timeshare closing agent to get an estimate of what the actual closing costs would be to transfer ownership. (Hawaii requires the closing be handled by a title company licensed in Hawaii). Finally, if the timeshare has some decent resale value- choose a licensed real estate broker that does not require ANY upfront fee. A legitimate reseller will only earn a commission at closing.
Be prepared for shocking news.. Many timeshares are worthless in the current market and often the only true value you’ll get would be from the usage and vacations you take.
There are several solutions if you contact this company, getridoftimeshare.com . Get Rid Of Timeshare has 3 different exit solutions. I chose donation, because it essentially converted my timeshare into cash!
Advertise it and sell it. Expect to receive only about 20% of what you paid for it; that’s where the pricing is these days. You can wait for prices to return to previous levels, but you’ll be waiting 6 – 10 years. Advertise on ebay.com, craigslist.com and tug2.net. The latter is a website used by timeshare owners and users.
