The way I solved this problem is by adding a contact with the name SPAM to my phone contact list. Whenever I receive an unwanted political or other call, I add the unwanted Caller ID phone number to my SPAM contact, which now has about 50 unwanted phone numbers attached to it. If an unwanted caller calls again, my phone’s Caller ID shows SPAM as the caller and I simply don’t answer. Sometimes, for fun, I answer a SPAM call, but don’t say anything. It provides some perverse pleasure to listen while the unwanted caller says “Hello?… Hello?…Hello?” over and over before giving up in frustration.
The Federal website http://www.donotcall.gov will not stop political callers. Those organizations are exempt. They can and will continue to call until the elections are over. My only advise is to screen the calls and if you don’t recognize the number, let the caller leave a message.

Go to http://www.donotcall.gov and register your cell number. IT is a federal offense if marketers or others to call you.
turn off the phone…viola!
