The 2012 fire sale may be the worst because there is no market correction and the team was just given a brand new stadium in 2012. The franchise took what they wanted from Miami and Miami-Dade County and essentially gave the taxpayers the middle finger with the latest trade.

I think 1997, because that was the first time they had won a championship and then immediately blew up the team.

This one is the height of cynicism because of what the Marlins had promised in order to get the new stadium and because of what the community has sacrificed for the stadium.
