Weston Home Severely Damaged In Fire, Dogs Rescued

WESTON (CBSMiami) -- A home in the sprawling Weston Hill community was severely damaged by a roaring fire that erupted Wednesday.
Broward Sheriff's Office firefighters arrived at the home on Provence Circle just after noon and found heavy black smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire in about 15 minutes.
While no residents were home at the time of the fire, firefighters did rescue two small dogs and a lizard from home.
The dog, a mixed breed poodle, required oxygen but will be okay. The second dog named Zoe went running off into the neighborhood.
"There was a second dog, a Yorkshire terrier that escaped the home and a search is underway by residents to try to locate that dog," said Chief Mike Kane with Broward Fire Rescue.
The home, according to neighbors, is owned by Carole Taub and her husband who have three children.
Carole Taub arrived home, gave her dog 'Mitzy' a big hug and thanked the firefighters. She also thanked the neighborhood children who spotted the fire and called 911.
The damage to the home is extensive and has left the two-story residence uninhabitable.
The Florida State Fire Marshall will investigate.
