2 Injured In Richmond Heights Shooting, Prompting School Lockdown

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Investigators surrounded a home in Richmond Heights with guns drawn Tuesday morning.
A woman and a man were led out and handcuffed as officers appeared to be searching for someone.
Miami-Dade Police said a shots fired call came in around 6 a.m. from the home.
As police were investigating that call, less than two miles away, a woman flagged down another officer.
A school board officer advised over the police radio that she was with a female that had been shot.
Moments later, there was a vehicle also discovered with a second man shot at that intersection near 152nd Street and 102nd Avenue.
The Ford Expedition had a bullet hole through the passenger window.
Miami-Dade Police identified the victims as 31-year-old Richard Acosta and 27-year-old Elena Maria Diaz.
At her home, a family member told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that she was stunned by the shooting that left her loved one wounded.
"She is an amazing person," she said. "She works and she has a daughter."
She and another loved one said they had received limited details from police about the incident and said they were heading to the hospital to check on their relative.
All of this unfolded near Coral Reef Senior High School, prompting the school to go on temporary lockdown around 7 a.m.
Police wouldn't say if they were searching for a gunman in the area
The victims were both rushed to nearby Jackson Memorial South Hospital in stable condition.
One woman, Marlita Montgomery, who spoke to CBS4's Rielle Creighton, showed up outside the house scene and said the victims were her friends.
"I'm surprised someone would retaliate on them inside the car," said Montgomery. "They were shot in the torso."
A check of records showed that Acosta has an extensive criminal history. Records show he's been arrested for strong arm robbery, false imprisonment, carrying a concealed weapon, battery, grand theft and resisting arrest. It's not known if this crime is tied to Acosta's criminal history.
