MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Chris Bosh is thanking his family and the South Florida community, just days after his Heat career officially ended.

Bosh's thank you letter to his fans, published on his website and also in a full-page ad in the Miami-Herald, is tugging at the heart-strings of South Floridians.

"I think it was a class act," said Miami Heat fan Brad Leinbach.  "He's a nice guy. I think it was a nice gesture on his part."

Brad isn't close to the only person that feels that way.

"I thought it was a good, heart-felt message that he wanted to show that he respected the organization," said Heat fan Anthony Ramsay.

The letter was published five days after Bosh and the Heat parted ways following a seven-year partnership.

"I think he's been very good for the team," said Leinbach. "I mean, he's put everything on the court, left it all out there and unfortunately due to his medical condition he can't keep going but I think he's been great for the city."

Bosh, who has not played with the Heat since February of 2016, talked about the ups and downs during his time in South Florida.

He talked about his surgery and spending six days at the hospital.  Multiple blood clots eventually ended his Heat career.

He also thanked his family and the community for their support reminiscing on the birth of his children and his championship wins.

Fans hope that even though they won't see him on the court in his Heat uniform, that he will somehow stay close to the game.

"There's a bunch of different ways that he can still make impact on the NBA," said Ramsay. "Hopefully he does something.  He doesn't give up basketball."

Bosh has not announced what his future plans are but in his letter the last thing he wrote was that he asked his fans not only here in Miami but across the world to continue to follow him on his journey wherever that may lead him.
