MIAMI (CBSMiami) –  Miami Police are searching for two, possibly three crooks responsible for a high-priced smash and grab burglary at a Brickell jewelry store.

The thieves struck Brickell Jewelers, located at 900 S. Miami Avenue at The Shops at Mary Brickell Village. Surveillance video shows two men throwing a heavy, round, concrete parking marker at the door of the business several times before the bullet-proof glass was knocked from its frame.

The thieves smashed several jewelry counters, stealing a large number of expensive Rolex watches and other pricey jewelry.

Owners Danny and Michael Nissim estimate their loss at least $100,000, but had not had time to conduct a complete inventory when interviewed by CBS4 News.

The video shows once the burglars got inside, they were in and out of the store in just 30 seconds.

"Fortunately, there was somebody who was nearby, who like screamed at them and spooked them out," said Danny Nissim.  "Otherwise they would have kept on going and taken a lot more."

The crime could not have come at a less wonderful time of the year, less than two weeks before Christmas.

"This is our biggest month of the year. It's just terrible timing," Danny Nissim said.  "Right now our biggest goal is to fix everything and get back in business."

The brothers have insurance that will cover their lost inventory and damage, but not necessarily the loss in sales that will make for something of a blue business Christmas.
