NEW YORK (CBSMiami) –  President-elect Donald Trump had a quick sit-down Tuesday morning with music icon Kanye West.

West arrived at Trump Tower shortly before 9:00 a.m. with a large entourage. His wife, Kim Kardashian West, was not with him.

Trump spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, confirmed the two had a meeting scheduled.

When the short meeting was over, both Mr. Trump and West emerged from the elevators along with Ivanka Trump.

The President-elect said the two are longtime friends and discussed "life," adding West is "a good guy."

It's unclear why the two met.

Last year, West revealed he had plans to run for president in 2020 and has recently expressed his support for Trump during concerts. A week after the election, West told an audience in California that if he'd voted he would have cast his ballot for Trump. A few days later he was hospitalized for exhaustion and sleep deprivation.
