MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) - Police have released the identities of two people who were shot and killed in Miami Gardens.

They are 28-year-old Oliver Portieles and 16-year-old Janet Francis.

The shooting happened at approximately 8:26 p.m. on Sunday.

According to authorities, a gunman walked up and opened fire on their car parked on the side of the road near 38th Avenue and 206th Street.

The driver of the parked car took off while the gunman continued shooting.

Witnesses say the driver turned on 38th Avenue, lost control and hit a Dodge Viper then a red Toyota.

Portieles and Francis were driving a Scion and both died in the crash.

A woman celebrating her birthday nearby saw what happened.

"And all we hear is a couple of gunshots so we take off running to take cover and then I turn around because my sandals had slipped off. I turn around and all I see is the Scion come which is the two victims that were shot at...they hit my friend's car," said witness Joselyn Aguilera. "I looked inside the vehicle and I saw both of them were gone. They were dead."

Police are asking for information about the shooting.  They say witnesses only saw one person but felt that multiple shooters were involved.

Police say there is no known motive and they have yet to determine a connection between the victims and the gunman.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami Gardens Police or Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
