Trump On Russian Hacking Report: "Just Another Excuse"

WASHINGTON (CBSMiami/AP) — Donald Trump is dismissing the CIA's assertion that Russia tried to intervene in the U.S. election.

On Sunday, the President-elect weighed on recent intelligence reports that said Russia meddled in the election because it wanted Trump to win.

"I think it's ridiculous," Trump said. "I think it's just another excuse. I don't believe it. I don't know why and I think it's just, you know, they talked about all sorts of things. Every week it's another excuse. We had a massive landslide victory, as you know, in the Electoral College. No, I don't believe that at all."

A Friday night statement released by the transition team notes that the CIA "are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction."

U.S. intelligence officials have accused Russia of hacking into Democratic officials' email accounts in an attempt to interfere with the presidential campaign. The Washington Post, citing anonymous U.S. officials, reported Friday that the CIA has concluded that Russia aimed specifically to help Trump win the presidency.

The transition team statement says: "The election ended a long time ago. ... It's now time to move on and 'Make America Great Again.'"
