BCAA All-Star Football Game Celebrates 20 Impressive Years

For the past 19-plus years, the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) has set standards with the way they promote their athletes in all sports.

From basketball to soccer, baseball, softball, wrestling football and academics, student-athletes and coaches are rewarded for what they do to take things to the next level.

Banquets, award dinners and so many other events that get the students and parents involved – the BCAA has always set the table to give its many all-star athletes a forum to be showcased and put in a spotlight.

When Don Cifra and the late Damian Huttenhoff saw a need to promote the athletes, they started with football.

With college coaches invited to practices, it was one of the first local all-star events to not only host a game, but to give the players, coaches, cheerleaders and their families a banquet with awards and recognition.

That was 19 years ago.

On Thursday, Dec. 8th, the 20th annual Broward County All-Star contest as players and coaches from all the BCAA member programs will square off in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Nova High School.

With Rocky Gillis, Shawn Cerra and the BCAA staff working overtime; the practices, banquet, game and souvenir program exposure with biographies on all the players – have certainly made a huge impact.
