FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A former Broward Sheriff's deputy charged with extortion and official misconduct has been released from jail.

Fired BSO deputy Trazell McLeod, 20, hid his face from CBS4 cameras as he was released from jail early Friday morning.

McLeod is suspected of falsely accusing a security guard in Pompano Beach of having drugs on him and then soliciting a prostitute. It happened on Hammondville Road and NW 3rd ave in mid-October. And then, investigators say, he offered to forget about it but wanted something in return.

"When the deputy approached my client and accused him of these wrong doings, he then said I'm going to be back on a frequent basis and requesting sexual favors on a frequent basis," said Bradford Cohen, the victim's attorney. "And in return, I'm not going to arrest you."

Cohen is stunned by the allegations.

"I've never heard a story that was so, quite frankly, it's pretty frightening in terms of what was requested from my client, in exchange for the officer saying he would arrest him for these crimes, that he essentially made up," he added.

According to the police report, when the deputy first stopped the man, he "frisked" the victim and "grabbed his private area."

Security cameras reportedly captured much of this. McLeod is also accused of getting the victim's address and hanging out in his driveway waiting for him.

McLeod had only been a sworn deputy since September. Cohen is concerned and wonders if this has happened before.

"This type of brazen activity, the requests that were being made, seemed very unusual that it would be someone doing it for the first time."
