MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A heartbreaking scene for loved ones as the body of a woman found dead inside a Miami apartment was taken away.

City of Miami police identified the victim as Cylkia Gerena.

"She was 28 years old," said Gerena's cousin, Victor Soler. "She just came from Puerto Rico, I believe a year and a half ago, have two jobs, just purchased a car, got an 8-year-old daughter. She was precious for the family."

City of Miami police say sometime around 12:30 p.m. a man identified as Carlos Enriquez-Polledo, 59, walked into a police station and said he'd killed his significant other.

Once police arrived at an apartment off NW 35th Street and 1st Avenue, they say they found Gerena's body.

Relatives and friends spent the day and evening trying to get more information about what happened.

"Why they took her so fast, we don't have no information.  We try to get the most information that we can get from the officers," said Soler.  "But it's very little information that we have."

The suspect is in jail facing charges of first-degree murder.

Police have not released a motive in the case.

If you have any information that can help police, please contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
