LAUDERHILL - A man was killed, two women critically injured, in a wrong way wreck early Thursday morning on the Florida Turnpike.

Around 5 a.m., a red Ford F150 was heading south in the northbound lanes of the toll road when it veered to avoid hitting a parked vehicle on the inside shoulder just north of Sunrise Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver lost control, it veered across the road and rolled when it hit the outside embankment. All three people in the truck were ejected.

The truck came to rest near the sound barrier wall.

The man died on the scene. Both women were hospitalized at Broward Health Medical Center.

The FHP has not said who was driving the truck at the time of the crash. Tests are being done to determine if alcohol was involved.
