MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Two-year-old Lacy moved into her brand-new state of the art room at Nicklaus Children's Hospital.

Lacy has been living at the hospital for the past nine months. She was first brought there when doctors discovered a brain tumor. She has undergone two brain surgeries and chemotherapy.

Fortunately, this little fighter is on her road to recovery.  Her mother Jaime Jerome is hoping being in the new and advanced pediatric care pavilion will help her in the healing process.

"We've been at ICU. For a bit, she looked sadder but when we came here to the new room, she seems more vibrant and happier," said Jerome.

And that is just what they're hoping for at Nicklaus Children's Hospital with their brand-new six-story, Perkins + Will Miami designed the 213,000 square-foot tower for their critical care patients featuring the latest technical and family-centered advancement.

"The idea behind it was healing and for it to be a peaceful place when they come in for families, visitors and the kids," said Chief Nursing Officer Jackie Gonzalez.

The new tower was built with the children in mind. From the lobby and its modern decor to the vibrant colors inside and outside the rooms.

"You kind of feel like you're in a Disney hotel with all the bright colors. It's very therapeutic. It will help in the healing process," said Jerome.

Not only is it comforting for the children but also the family being in a spacious private room with their own double bed by their child's side.

"It almost feels like a new beginning for us to go home. We are no longer in the old one where she had brain tumor…making me feel like a new beginning," said Jerome.
