MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi has had quite the fortnight.

After breaking out with a big performance during Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, rushing for 204 yards and two touchdowns, Ajayi was named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week.

Then last Sunday, with the Dolphins facing their longtime rival from Buffalo, Ajayi went off again.

He ran for 214 yards and another touchdown, becoming just the fourth running back in NFL history to have consecutive 200-yard rushing games joining O.J. Simpson, Earl Campbell and former Dolphins star Ricky Williams.

Ajayi also was named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week again, becoming the first RB to win the award in consecutive weeks since LaDanian Tomlinson did it in 2006.

That year, Tomlinson was named the NFL's MVP, rushing for a whopping 1,815 yards and a ridiculous 31 touchdowns.

Despite carrying the ball just 18 times for 75 yards (4.1 yards per carry) during his first three games, Ajayi is already more than halfway to a 1,000 yard season having rushed for 535 yards on 84 carries this season (6.4 yards per carry) with 10 games still to go.

The Dolphins are currently enjoying their bye week riding a two game winning streak. They'll look to get back to .500 when they face the New York Jets on November 6th.
