GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) – An American bald eagle is lucky to be alive after it got stuck in the grill of car.

It happened in Clay County, which is between Gainesville and Jacksonville, in an area affected by Hurricane Matthew.

The bird apparently flew low in front of the car and got stuck.

The driver immediately pulled over and called for help.

Clay County Sheriff’s deputies and fire rescue personnel were able to remove the bird from the grill and turned it over to a wildlife bird sanctuary.
