MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — The first coaching change domino has fallen.

Florida International University has fired head football coach Ron Turner.

The Panthers made the move Sunday, one day after the team fell to 0-4 this season with a 53-14 loss to Central Florida.

FIU has won only 13 of its last 53 games, going back to the final game of the 2011 season. The Panthers were 10-30 in parts of four seasons under Turner, who replaced Mario Cristobal before the 2012 season.

Defensive coordinator Ron Cooper is taking over as interim coach.

The Panthers play host to rival Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
