DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins have placed defensive end Dion Jordan on the reserve/non-football injury list.

The team announced the move on Tuesday afternoon.

This means that Jordan will not be eligible to play for the first six weeks of the NFL season.

Miami's seventh game of the season will come during Week 8 on October 23rd against the Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Dolphins bye week is Week 5 so there will be some extra practice time should Jordan be ready to play by then.

Miami also placed linebacker Zach Vigil on the reserve/non-football injury list.

Jordan was selected by the Dolphins with the 3rd overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

He has not played since the 2014 season and has been suspended three times during his brief NFL career.

Jordan was suspended indefinitely in April of 2015 after failing his third drug test.

The league conditionally reinstated him last month on the Dolphins first day of training camp.
