Tropical Storm Gaston Continues Strengthening, Expected To Become Hurricane

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Gaston continues strengthening and is expected to become a hurricane on Wednesday.
At 11 p.m. Tuesday, the center of the system was about 875 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands.
Gaston's maximum sustained winds were 65 mph with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center.
Gaston was moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph. A gradual turn toward the northwest is forecast over the next 48 hours.
Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Gaston is likely to become a hurricane on Wednesday.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
Meanwhile, what was Tropical Depression Fiona is finished. The National Hurricane Center has issued their last advisory on it.
There's also a third tropical wave moving in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a high chance of becoming a tropical disturbance within the next few days.
