MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said two people, including a child, were shot in Miami Gardens Monday night.

The shooting happened at 193rd Street and NW 39th Court.

A large group of people who identified themselves as family members at the scene say a father and his 12-year-old son were shot.

Authorities said the 35-year-old man has died, while his son was hit in the foot.

The boy was taken to the hospital.

Neighbors said they heard a number of shots being fired.

"First it sounded like a firecracker, but then it was bullets ringing out like war," said witness Mike Kirkland. "You hear that in your neighborhood and you know it's not Fourth of July, so something's going on. And next thing you know you hear the sirens. And after a few minutes later, police come and you start hearing the ambulance."

Police told CBS4's Oralia Ortega they're looking for a gold Dodge Charger.

If you have any information that can help police, please contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
