MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An 11-year-old boy shot in the chest and his mother spoke out for the first time since the terrifying incident right outside their home.

"A little bit good."

That's all Jamarie London could get out after going through one of the scariest things anyone – let alone a child – can experience.

On Monday night, Jamarie was shot in front of his home in the 1700 block of SW 103rd Ave.

His mother on the other hand had a lot to say.

"I am so grateful he is doing perfectly fine. The doctors was like the way he was shot he is doing marvelous. We don't have to have no surgery, no blood transfusion," Kristi Stewart said. "All the things we thought was wrong with him, thank God it was nothing wrong with him."

She's says Monday night she heard the shots, but when her son came in saying he was shot she didn't believe him.

"I thought he was joking because he didn't cry, he didn't scream, he didn't do nothing. He was just like, 'Mama, I'm hit. I'm hit, mama, I'm hit.' And I'm like, 'Stop playing with me little boy. Stop playing with me.' And he was holding his side and as the second time he told me that he was hit he moved his hand that's when I seen the blood. They say I passed out," she explained.

Police are sick of the violence, and mother's like Stewart are feeling the impact.

"I want everyone as you go out, think about that 11-year-old being, your 11-year-old child, your 11-year-old brother," said Miami-Dade police Maj. Samuel Bronson

Bronson is determined to find the person who shot Jamarie.

"We're aligning with the community, getting the information out. We do have an award of $6,000," Bronson said.

On Wednesday, police spent the day in Jamarie's southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood. They passed out flyers, trying to find anyone with information on the shooter.

His mother says the shooter is a coward. She is begging anyone with information to come forward.

"They have no heart. I feel as if whoever did it is heartless because how can you shoot an 11-year-old? He don't do nothing to nobody," Stewart said.

"We're declaring that enough is enough. We're going to stand on behalf of Jamarie," Bronson said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471- TIPS.  If a tip leads to an arrest, the tipster may be eligible for a reward.
