Peyton Manning, Wes Welker Show Up For Dolphins Training Camp Practice

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The star power on the sidelines at Miami Dolphins training camp on Monday was pretty impressive.

It's not unusual to see Dan Marino out there with the team, chatting with players and coaches.

Joining Marino were a couple of former superstars who played under new Dolphins head coach Adam Gase in Denver.

Peyton Manning and Wes Welker have been seen at Miami's practice facility earlier this year and now they're back for training camp.

Whether it's just for a quick visit or something longer remains to be seen, but it's surely a cool thing for players to see a pair of future Hall of Famers who are willing to take time, share knowledge and give advice.

When Manning visited the Dolphins back in May, quarterback Ryan Tannehill wasn't shy about how much he enjoyed spending time with the two-time Super Bowl champion.

"It was really cool," Tannehill said. "A guy that had his career, the living legend he is, coming off a Super Bowl winning season—it was really cool just to be able to sit and pick his brain about things he's done in this offense and football things in general: snap counts, things you like, the way you want guys to run routes, little details about the game. We really just got to talk the game, which is something we both love.

"He is something I aspire to be, as good or better as he is one day. Hopefully, we'll be able to get him to come around some more."

The first meeting came before Tannehill and the rest of the Dolphins could meet with the new coaching staff, so the playbook was a bit of a mystery.

This time around, Tannehill can go over Gase's offensive playbook with Manning and extract valuable information on how things should be run, what to look for, and so on.

Welker was on hand for Miami's minicamp back in June and was referred to as an advisor.

Technically Welker is currently a free agent but it appears that he isn't making a concentrated effort to join an NFL training camp roster.

The wide receiver position is one of the deepest and most talented on the Dolphins roster but having Welker around certainly won't hurt.
