MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins had something to be happy about before they even took the field against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
Prior to the Marlins series clinching 11-1 win, the team unveiled the 2017 All-Star Game logo.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred was on hand to help with the logo debut, which is displayed prominently all over Marlins Park.
The game, set to be played on July 11th of next summer, will be the first time that the Marlins have hosted the midsummer classic.
"The All-Star Game is not just a game,'' said Manfred. "It's a week-long celebration of the game of baseball, filled with fun community activities everyone in Miami can be involved with. I know Miami will be a great All-Star host and we can't wait to get here next summer.''
There were be several events scattered across South Florida in the week leading up to the game, including the Home Run Derby which Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton won just a couple weeks ago in San Diego.
