DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins are just days away from opening their 2016 training camp.

The new-look Dolphins still have some question marks on the roster, with one position in particular being cornerback.

On Tuesday head coach Adam Gase told the media that rookie cornerback Xavien Howard would being camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The second-round pick was believed to be in contention for a starting job but due to an injury suffered on the final day of Miami's minicamp Howard had to have his knee scoped.

Gase said that, at the latest, the team expects to have Howard back on the field for the first game of the regular season, a September 11th matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

Currently, Byron Maxwell and Tony Lippet are the top corners on the team and will likely occupy the two first team slots when camp opens on Friday.
