Lauren's List: Tips To Make Manic Mondays Easier

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Raise your hand if Monday mornings are extra rough in your house!

I'm definitely raising mine.

Today's Lauren's List is here to tell you the health mistakes experts say we all make on the weekends that we pay for every Monday.

1. Drinking too much.  Consuming too much alcohol causes dehydration of your cells, cellular toxicity, and liver damage.  Elevated liver enzymes could cause premature aging.  So next time, maybe skip last call and drink some water instead.

2. Sleeping past 10 a.m.  During the week, my alarm goes off just before 2 in the morning, so the urge to sleep in on Saturday and Sunday is strong.  But experts say overdoing it on sleep isn't smart, either.
You're actually affecting your internal circadian clock.  Avoiding sleeping till noon on Sunday will make Monday much easier.

3. Not washing off your make-up.  Ladies, I'm looking at you, particularly after a Saturday night on the town.  We all want to crawl into bed and fall asleep right when we get home, but leaving your make-up on is doing damage to your body's largest organ- your skin!  Plus, mascara and lipstick tend to stain sheets.  Wash your face each night and feel fresh the next day.

4. Having a "Binge" or "Cheat Day."  I tend to do cheat days.  Yes, plural, as in both Saturday and Sunday.  Oops!  But doctors say jumping from healthy eating to junk food binges can cause bodily stress, bloat and even a lack of energy.  Stick with little indulgences here and there instead.

What do you do to make the transition from weekend to workweek easier on your body?
